This is my personal experience about Alamo Bay Inn. I booked rooms in Alamo Bay Inn last March 2017, I stayed there for 5 days. Finding Alamo Bay Inn is not hard, just tell the driver you're going to CRAFTS department store. You'll see a path heading to the market just turn on your first left, keep walking for about 2 minutes and you'll see the black gate.

Pros:
*The price is cheap (1200php) considering the fact that it's just 7 minutes walk away from the beach.
*The staff are really nice. Always smiling.
*Nice cable TV
*Clean room.

Cons:
*The bed is too stiff.
*The air conditioning doesn't cool properly (it's as if its in high fan even though it's at max)
*The smell of the room smells like we cement.
*You can take long showers without flooding the room 'cause the bathroom has no stoppers. (it really pissed me off)
*The staff has no urgency, they're so lax. Tough they are nice, you get a feeling that there just there to relax and watch TV. I asked for a towel early in the morning, the lady in the front desk said "I'll give it to you later sir" when I got back late in the evening,...lo and behold...there was no towel. I had to ask her again. And when I asked how to get to the airport with no effort the staff said "I don't know".
*No breakfast.

(keywords: Boracay, Alamo Bay Inn, Cheap hotel Boracay)

Would I recommend this hotel for budget travelers? Yes, I would. I mean you won't stay in the hotel forever, you're just to sleep going to sleep there and leave your bags. Though there are more cons than pros but if you're on a budget, it's still a nice place to crash in for a couple of days.
In a scale 1 to 5 and 5 being I would really recommend it and 1 is I definitely won't, I'd give it a 3.

What can I say about Vigan?
I stayed in the city last Feb 23-28, 2015
Vigan is great, the streets are clean and the old buildings are awesome but aside from that, there's nothing much to do in Vigan. I stayed there for five days and I can say that it kinda get's "old" looking at the buildings. What you can do in Vigan is eat,.. the restaurants serve appetizing food that appeals to any nationality, the native cuisine is a mixture of Filipino, Spanish, Chinese
and all Vigan, I highly suggest Cafe Leona, the food their is awesome and is truly Vigan.
If you wanna go cheap, try the empanada in the plaza., you'll be surprised of how good it is, there is a half cooked egg in the middle of the empanada and it's just yummy, and it only cost 30php

Calle Crisologo (Heritage village) is tantalizing especially at night, the street is buzzing with terrorists, and you'll have nostalgic feel of the place, the downside is the souvenir shops sell the same thing, there's no variety, the street is beautiful and very romantic plus a horse ride of 150php and it's magic. =)

I stayed in Hotel Felicidad, the hotel is really clean and the hostesses are really nice. There is a buffet in the morning, and there's a waitress named Lory and she is gorgeous haha.. she's of Spanish descent and she looks like Marian Rivera. As for me here are my scores in a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.

Food: 9
Sighseeing: 7 'cause of limited things you can see
Extrafun- 8, you can do rappel in Vigan, ride a horse,

Buri Resort and Spa Review

I went to Buri last March 6, 2014,. and the experience was super amazing.
Located in a secluded place in Puerto Galera Mindoro, Buri is a great place to getaway and have that tranquil break. There are twelve villas at the resort and two garden villas that are great for honeymooners. There are also family villas to accommodate up-to 7 people, there's even a private plunge pool, that's great especially for the kids.
Here are some activities you can do there:
-Snorkeling
-Ride a carabao (water bufallo)
Buri Resort and Spa Review

What I really like about Buri is that you'll feel like it's a personalized service, tailor maid just for you depending on what you want or what you need.

Spa- The spa is very popular in Buri, the therapist actually use ointments and leaves grown in Buri garden.
Service includes traditional Filipino hilot, wraps, facial and some really good massages. Great-news is they cater to walk-ins as well, just to have their spa service.

For me the place is great for honeymooners,..but is not made for young people who wants to go crazy and party all night. If that's what your looking for better go elsewhere.
Getting to El Nido, is challenge you first have to Fly to Palawan, then ride a bus, that would take 7 hours to get there. The term “Panagbenga” comes from a Kankanaey term meaning “season of blooming”. This festival reflects the history, traditions and values of Baguio and the Cordilleras. It lasts over a month long and flourishes through community spirit involvement. It's like the Pasadena flower parade in the Philippines.

One of the most colorful festivals celebrated in the island of Marinduque is the Moriones Festival. Morion means "mask"or "visor," a part of the medieval Roman armor which covers the face. Moriones, on the other hand, refers to the masked and costumed penitents who march around the town for seven days searching for Longinus. This week-long celebration starts on Holy Monday and culminates on Easter Sunday when the story of Longinus is reenacted in pantomime. This is a folk-religious festival that re-enacts the story of Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye.
It's an interesting procession, they have a parade where they cover themselves with leaves. Don't know why.
The place is nice for sight seeing, but that's about it. Other than shopping for souvenirs and taking pictures that's about everything you can do. For me the local government can put a little more attraction, a lift maybe or even a ferry's wheel, so you one can actually appreciate the beauty of the place.
Skyrise Hotel Baguio Review

We went to Baguio last April 2014 for the holy week and we stayed in Skyrise Hotel in Baguio near Grotto,
and here's what I think.

(This is Skyrise Hotel on the outside)

There are two building and both are not really high rise building. It's only called Skyrise because of the floors they call second floor 6th flr, third floor 7th flr. There's levels of basement though, not sure why.
We rented a two bed room, and asked for a folding bed. The room costs 2200php a night (that's like $44), and the extra bed is 300php,with blankets and a pillow($7 all in). It's a little expensive probably because it's
a holiday. The view from the second floor is nice you'll be able to see Baguio City from there.
It is not a luxury hotel just so you know. It's a cheap hotel with hard water on the bathroom walls, the TV is ancient, no air-condition, and the paint on the wall is dirty, there was also a problem with the toilet flush. It's a real crappy place if you ask me, and expensive too, for a crappy place. I would just pay $12 a night in that hotel nothing more. The place looks kinda old and gloomy like in some old hospital.

So you want to move to a tropical place,. and your query brought you to my blog. Welcome. =)
Before I go and share my knowledge about living in a tropical place, ask yourself this. Why do you want to live in a place like this? You must have the right reasons and right motivation for coming here, not just because you read it on the internet or you had some friend tell you how great it is living here.

These are some things you want to consider, and think about.

1. Country- Where do you want to live? Al tough it sounds romantic and exciting to just point your finger on the world map, but come on, you have to think of it really well. Different tropical countries have something a little different to offer, in terms of culture food, language, weather etc... but your thinking of coconuts and beaches. You should consider places in the Pacific like Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Burma, Guam, Hawaii etc...
The good news is of your European or American your currency could go a long way living in some of these places.

(You'll live in a place like this if want to save)

2. Place to live- In my country (Philippines) you're not aloud to buy your own real estate, not unless your a Filipino citizen, you can buy a condominium but that's about it.., but you can real estate in Malaysia and Indonesia with no problem if your a foreigner.
Anyway what type of place do you want to stay in? Would you like to live in beach resort or just a plane beach and mingle with the locals both are possible.
How about the house you want to stay in? Is it lavish chateaus, a small beach house, an apartment a hut, .. etc.. you have to consider that. The rent in a residential place close to a beach is $35-$100 a month, anything higher than a $100 and you can consider yourself being ripped-off, regardless of what country here in the Pacific, you'll have electricity toilet, small kitchen and bed.
The rule of thumb is the poorer the country the less rent you pay. I suggest Philippines or Malaysia, Philippines because everybody speaks English and Malaysia 'cause of the better service, like going to the neatest hospital 'cause you got poisoned by a jelly fish.

3. Food- Say goodbye to cheese burger from Burger King and pizza from Pizza hut, you won't have any. You see if you'll be living in a beach most likely it will be in a rural area. I suggest you stay away from the local street food for a while, not unless you want to crap water for a week. The locals are used to the bacteria in those food don't try it,. 'cause honestly I know eating fresh fish, crabs and other sea foods might sound romantic but you can live-off this type of food for months, what more the rest of your life you'll eventually be malnourished.. and believe me you'll be looking for the food your used to,

YES YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE COCONUT JUICE YOU WANT FRESH FROM THE TREES

4. Living there- Yeah, living in beach house can be really cheap. You can catch your own meal if you like
sounds exciting right!?, it can get boring and hungry at times..sitting down doing nothing, especially at around 9:00AM-3:30PM, 'cause the sun can be a bitch.

I grew up in Masbate Philippines, 800 meters away from the beach, I can say I didn't appreciate what I had when I was young. I grew up in a quiet town of Ibingay,..It's a type of community where everybody knows everybody and you get around by walking, bicycle or motorcycle I rarely saw cars growing up. When I was a little boy, I would usually sit at our porch and watch kids walk to school,. and in the afternoon me and my little sister would usually play in our backyard and eat bilimbi, guava, chico and other fruits we could find in our backyard..and oh..I forgot to mention, our backyard was more like a forest than a garden. We had all sorts of trees at our backyard.

Relaxed and peaceful, that was my life growing up.

In the afternoon, fishermen would walk around town to peddle their catch, everything cheap and fresh. I remember my grandfather bargaining for a price of a big fish. What they sold wasn't limited to fish though, they would sell squid, sea weeds, crabs etc... yes life was simple. And on weekends my uncle Eddie would visit us and take us to the beach, then we'd swim all day and we'd get sun burns Lol,.
But back then I thought I was too big for this town, so after high school I went to Manila for college...
and after 8 years here..,now I realize how beautiful living in that tropical place was.. relaxed and easy, that's life, no stress.

The cost of living is cheap, you can live less than a dollar a day if you want , or if your really cheap you can catch your own meal. It's a unique and humble way to live. People are friendly and always smiling, especially if your a foreigner, don't know why but the locals especially in the rural areas are very fund of foreigners.

Life is slow and fast. Slow because you feel like nothing's changing just a slow relax phase on a Monday morning then all the sudden you realize oh..it's Friday again. That's what I mean by slow and fast.

'cause life in a tropical place is pretty so relaxed. You almost have nothing to worry about, it's like God telling you everything's gonna be alright.
